Last week, ICANN kicked off the long-awaited application process by opening registration via the TLD Application System. Applicants who correctly answer the 50 questions detailed in the Applicant Guidebook and pay the $185,000 fee will be able to register a gTLD of their choice. According to the letter, the White House would not support any bill that would inhibit business innovation, create new cybersecurity risks or disrupt the Domain Name System.
